John, I have used Castrol from the day I bought my first Pentagon noon until the day I switched to Rotella for diesel. During the time I was driving gas panic guns, I never saw the light come on after a hard drive until the time I had to go to New York. I was in such a hurry to get out of Town that I let an oil change place put in some other brand of oils a crap filter. All the way up every time I would slow down to an idle the oil light would come on. As soon as I got back, I switched back to Castrol, and the problem went away.

I really don't see where changing oil brands would have any effect, except where synthetics are concerned, like moving from dino oil to a synthetic like Mobil One 15W50.
