Mine is made to just slide under the rear bench when the seat is a bed.
Helps support it when people just "plop-down" on the edge of the bed. Mine
also has a fiddle (a raised edge, boat term) around the top of the 1/2"
birch top, and that has some rubber mesh shelf-liner glued on. The top has
no hinges but it is recessed into the Box....it removes and slips between
the box and the seat pedestal.. I have two holes for a handle and this box
does multiple duty...potty holder, step stool, extra seat, support for the
front of the bed, workbench, sawhorse, etc. It also holds a Rubbermaid
tote perfectly on the lid...I stack some up to headrest height, then strap
those to the seat back when I am fully loaded....
