Ever check the sales results at insurance auctions? Totaled Westies go for some serious dollars. Definitely not scrap or "next to nothing"...

Hmm, no doubt that it had lots of good parts! Buying it back is a factor that most people don t take into account that I think virtually all of us would do.

Insurance companies either sell them for scrap or they go to auction where they sell for next to nothing, sometimes less than scrap value. I've done this twice in the past on my "totaled" cars. One I used for parts, and the other I had professionally repaired using used parts, (which is not allowed for insurance company paid repairs), got it re-titled with a salvage title, and sold the car for a nice profit.

Bought it back for next to nothing. It had a lot of good parts on it, not to mention a relatively low mileage engine and trans.
