Washington state vehicle registration depends on counties. Variables
depend on who is behind the counter and how they choose to give it to
you(with some very big leeway). I shopped around, when I bought a GMC van
recently. The nearby office tried to hit me for high bluebook value,
though I showed a bill of sale for $1500, what I paid....I went to another
county and they had no problem with the tax....At the first office I
refused to pay on the high bluebook they first quoted me, so they dropped
the fee some...but it was still pretty outrageous... So I went elsewhere.
Same on how they choose what kinda vehicle they will call you.....in Wash.
It seems like shopping around is required if you object to what they first
try to soak you for....
