There was no body trim adhesive on those seals when I replaced them in 2013; I was pleased with how easy it was to do, following the steps you've outlined. If the ones you buy need trimmed (mine did), measure accurately and try not to crimp the metal framing inside the rubber (I crimped one bit while trimming, and took a while bending it back into the correct shape). It is easy - go for it!
