Subject: Red #8 B+ wire to dash (was: "No Start Scenario")
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

On earlier buses, a #8 wire from battery + post connects to "back" of fuse panel supplying power to quite a few loads.

This image: http://tinyurl.com/p7dsrf3 shows a 1985 "Transporter" fuse box positioned as installed in Vanagon. The lower arrow points to "backside" of panel, which is closer to vehicle front. #8 B+ wire is close to upper arrow and in this case, has white tag.

I don't know how common this is but on my bus, though that B+ connector still worked, it was showing signs of overheating.

I was lucky to have a good spare same connector/wire pigtail so cut and soldered that in.

Neil.
