Well, that's the big question, eh. My 1990 was Canadian. The 1988, I didn't check. It had a California title but it was more than ten years ago. I didn't recall what the door sticker indicated.

There's the two in the links I posted. One is in Oregon. The other, maybe. But then, they could be Canadian too. But then, my local VW dealer told me all their non-GL '90's and '91's were Canadian imports officially imported by VW to the U.S. as lower priced alternatives. The possibility exist that the same was done for previous years. That arrangement should certainly qualify these vehicles as "imported to the U.S. by Volkswagen.
