We have some 3D printers at the college where I work and I ended up on the
mailing list of this company which produces parts from your plan in a wide
variety of materials including metals. Until we can afford our own vanagon
engine printing parts, it may be worth it for someone to make short runs of
some improved design part via this method. here's some of their info
