Dennis, you've repeated the old-time "legends" regarding torque wrenches.

If you have a modern German Stahlwille torque wrench--the kind available through the VW and Mercedes parts systems-- the following DO NOT apply.

1. You may freely use your Stahlwille clicker torque wrench for loosening fasteners, as the torque measuring action only occurs in one direction. Should you encounter left-handed threads, you simply remove the detachable ratchet head and turn it around.

2. There is NO need to reset the Stahlwille clicker wrench to zero when storing it.

Just like just about everything else, the Germans do torque wrenches better. And you pay for it, of course.
