On some of the smaller Oregon roads they have weigh stations that are scattered around the state and only used sometimes. I guess they like to surprise the truckers and fine em, or something. These weight stations are usually wide places along the highway with perhaps a sign or two, sometimes they will even have a small shack...There is the scale readout on a small device, maybe 8" square, the screen, normally on a pole nearby the scale...I keep my eyes open and check the readouts as I drive past...usually they simply leave the power on to these scales and you'll see an illuminated "0" on the scale when it's on....you just drive on to the insert in the pavement, , look over at the screen and drive off.

PS....a vanagon will just fit onto the scale with both front and rear wheels at the same time...Real vehicles normally drive the front wheels on, then the rear and add the sums...
