Even if you ask, it's unlikely that they would tell you the truth.
I think the reasonable ones probably end up going for 5% to 10% less than asking, but anything good under $20k could sell for asking around here.
On my son's transaction asking was $13,500 for an '87 Westy with 150k, no rust, and a new GT transmission, and he settled for $12,750, basically because I told him the car tires he had were unsafe and I couldn't drive it to Seattle on them. He claimed he was into it $13,000, and I believe him. He only had it for nine months before they decided it wasn't right for them.
