I'm in for $50. I'm retired from the University of Tennessee but up until last April I ran a bunch of Dell servers for Exchange, AD, and such plus LDAP, sendmail, etc. All-in-all around 48 Windows boxes and around 10 RedHat boxes for directory services and email. I also ran another 75 or so Dell servers running RedHat. So I have a lot of experience with Dell servers and we found them to be pretty good. I'm run a lot of servers over the years and the Dells were as good as any. I think that you can get a pretty nice Dell server that would likely work for ~$2 K. I have no idea where gerry lives but if he's in a machine room the Dells are all rack mounted. Just one data point to consider.
