Hi David.

I was just perusing vagcat.com Have yet to find that part on another VW or Audi but my search foo could be foo'd. I was curious of this note from this page: http://vnc.thewpp.ca/stuff/bentley/ep0niks.ctech.ca/vw/eva2/FU01/ch6.3.3.html

" If the idle stabilizer valve is diagnosed as faulty, it should be replaced with the improved version, which was introduced by Volkswagen as a running change during 1986 production. The improved valve carries the same part number, but is identified by a green or yellow dot. "

The uniqueness to Vanagons could simply be the connector? i.e. it would use only 2 of the 3 pins on a valve from a Jetta or what not?

Was figuring since the 2.1 was introduced in '86.... But then I could be barking up the wrong tree.

In terms of my bog question, put another way:

Does the throttle switch input to the IS control unit effectively disable the control unit during engine acceleration?
