I did check the battery first and had over 12v.

I had a suggestion to try jumping a connection between the main post and the small lead on the starter.

Iwent out to try that. Got everything ready, went to turn the key before climbing underneath the van and it started up! No hesitation or anything. Stranger is an hour before I was running an errand and tried turning her over just for the heck of it and it was the same as yesterday. Any ideas what caused this? What can I do to prevent it from happening? Because of the failure to start earlier today, I am not fully on board that it is a warm engine issue. Can you give me any ideas? Also, can you give me the long explanation, assuming I don't know much about the quirks involved?

If the voltage at the solenoid connection to the big battery cable drops to less than 6V while trying to crank, there is a bad connection between there and the battery ( assuming the battery voltage holds up above 10V or so.) > If you get good voltage going into the solenoid, check it where it goes from the solenoid into the starter. If that is also high, the solenoid is not making good contact, even tho it moves mechanically. The only thing to check to be sure of this is that the starter body voltage stays near zero while cranking. If not there is a bad ground connection between the engine/transmission and the body. > > Most of these tests can also be done with a simple 12V test light if no meter is available. > > Good luck, > Larry A. > > >> On Sat, Apr 18, 2015 at 8:09 PM, Jeremy Stovin <jjstov@yahoo.com> wrote: >> Yes, automatic, no remote starter. >> >> Sent from my iPad >> >> > On Apr 18, 2015, at 4:33 PM, Rob M <becidarob@gmail.com> wrote: >> > >> > I'm guessing it's an auto other wise you'd push start it.
