The funny thing is that my 82 diesel westy had a green led for high beam indicator. I just checked Bentley and it confirms.

My 86 syncro has the blue filtered incandescent.

The connectors and such are crimped onto/through the whole sandwich and you naturally want to stress them as little as you can so they stay nice and tight. Be respectful.
