Thanks Jim,

VC also has the two short hoses for $12 each. Labor here runs $350 for this job, so I think I’ll be doing it myself.

Stuart

The O-Ring you're looking for is VW N0282252 and VW obsoleted this about 2 years ago, which is real stupid considering that it's a must have when replacing the water pump (I have, 15 years ago). I've been looking high and low for a source, but I keep coming up empty, even in Europe.

Size is 25mm x 3.55mm

I'm only seeing them in complete engine gasket sets these days.

Van Cafe shows it, so they might have some stock. Buy two for a spare:

Can't put it off any longer. The pump I got (Graf) includes the big O-ring and the two gaskets on the pump, but not the small O-ring for the pipe that slips into the T-stat housing. I need that, and I think that pipe has to be detached from the engine at the other end to get at the pump, so I'll need that gasket too. It's been 20 years since I've done this job, and the Bentley doesn't have any instructions, just a diagram.

Are these dealer only items, or have any of you found a source? Are there any other gaskets I need?

I'm going to find out how much it will cost to have this done tomorrow just to see if it's worth doing myself.

Thanks!

Stuart
