These cluster bodies were made from poor quality plastic and are all falling apart. Go Westy has hold down tabs for the broken off corners were it attaches to the dash: http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23954&category_id=&category_parent_id=

The bosses where the speedo and tach/clock screw into the cluster also break, and can be repaired with epoxy and re-drilled (same with the map pocket on the driver's door).

The biggest problem is with the speedo. People push too hard on the mileage reset button and break the corners off the speedo. I've made a rather inelegant fix by epoxying a long screw to the cluster below the speedo that I can slip a fender washer and wing nut over to hold the bottom down. Ugly, but it has worked for four years so far. I'm genuine wingnut VW repairman.

Now that GW has solved the foil problem, it's time for them to commission new cluster bodies now! I'm sure they would be under $500, right?

Stuart

I think I’m beyond that. 30 years of +30 to -30C weather. Everywhere there is a screw, it is crumbling.
