Some pads are meant to have thin metal shims between the pads and the caliper pistons. I believe that these are intended to reduce squealing. There is also a liquid that you apply from a squeeze bottle, putting it on the back of the pads, probably between the pads and the shims. It is suupposed to stiffen into a plastic cushion that absorbs vibration. Should be at your local FLAPS.
