I'd highly recommend the custom-for-bus awnings Jonce Fancher builds: http://fanchers.com/278/Vanagon%20Westy%20Side%20Awning.htm We've been out full-time for 22 months, and it has withstood pure hell and huge winds again and again.
Get the Claw stakes with it, they are incredible. People use them to hold down small planes. We ordered four stakes and four poles, and had Jonce put in grommets on the bus-side corners of the awning — indispensable if you want a mobile awning as an option. You can view material colors on a website so your awning looks how you want it.
The only thing to watch for is drainage, sometimes it's hard to avoid puddles on the roof… Eric Eric Wunrow Pictures 303. 988. 8717 VW@EricWunrow.com
