OK, ALL awnings have some sort of problem ! ANY awing in a rain/windstorm is a problem, not just the Shadyboy ! AND, I’m not trying to promote the Shadyboy. We had our big 13’ Dometic awning on our Europa RV wrecked pretty good on the beach in Mexico this winter just because a rain storm came up over night, very rare mind you, and we did not have it tilted enough, so the water collected on it and BOOM is collapsed and wrecked the downdraft polls, their connectors at the awing and ripped out the connectors on the RV wall ! Lovely mess. Now all repaired with new parts which took a bit of digging to find. ALWAYS tilt your awing no matter what ! However, I still like outside, permanently installed awnings, why ? BECAUSE, we travel for 4 ~ 5 months of the year, EVERY year, and carry a lot of STUFF, so the more STUFF stored permanently outside gives us more room inside ! We have had a Shadyboy on our Westy since like forever. It’s been totally replaced once and the awing material has been replaced three or four times now, not the best for sure, BUT I still feel it’s the best for us and how we use it.
