Subject: Westy rear driver side cupholder solution
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

A few weeks back I wrote about looking for a slide-out cupholder that would fit under the rear table of a westy. The importance of that location was that a regular vanagon cupholder that could only mount to the rear of the fridge got in the way of raising and operating the table. Anyway I got some good suggestions but finally settled for the one at the link above on ebay. It combines a double cup holder and a small coin drawer in a unit that was designed to fit in a DIN radio opening. Twelve bucks shipped. If you don't like it you can remove it and no harm done to the westy table.

It has some weird-looking appendages sticking out of the sides that you can't see when it it mounted under the table. There is no table mounting provision per se, not surprisingly, but there are two flat tabs among the appendages that can be drilled to mount the thing to the bottom of the table.

When you receive it, you won't like it because the amount of force to open the cupholder is excessive and will pull the table out from the wall. The solution is to look underneath the cupholder and find the two bumps that keep it in place at rest and trim them down with a knife. They are too aggressive. After trimming it will work fine.

Jim
