Dennis, it sounds like something is amiss inside of the housing. Are you sure it isn't that the brakes are dragging and causing the heating up? It can be a little tricky getting the bearings assembled in the housing properly. If I were going to guess, that would be my guess that something isn't right in there. I don't have a torque wrench that goes up to 369ft-lbs so I just tighten the heck out of these nuts with an air gun until it is tight and I can put the cotter pin in. Never had a problem with it getting hot after doing that, but I did have some problems with assembling the rear bearings the first few times I attempted it back in the day. I use a press now and haven't had problems in a while. You have to be really careful installing the outer bearing that there is no stop for it and it also seems to go into the housing very tightly. If you don't press it in just right it can fail almost immediately after putting it back together.
