I have tin tops and I use both Thule rooftop cargo carrier and a fold up hitch cargo carrier for long trips...like this one...

if you put a rooftop cargo carrier you may want this item to assist you when pop the top

also make sure your hitch is strong enough to hold hitch mount the cargo carrier and its load
