I used to drive with it open a few inches on my '86 Westy. I put a little
piece of cardboard in the opening and tightened the skylight down on it and
that usually prevented it from rattling. My skylight hardware needs
redoing so right now it's not very easy to open it. So I haven't been doing
this lately. Air does come in it rather than going out of it as others
have mentioned.
