I sent a video of how it was installed … and how it didn’t fit … i can get out and get the tank from ol’ rolf and measure it … but i sent a video of how it was installed and how the hole in the tank is 1” lower than the hole thru the frame … the frame is on an 82 vanagon …

Your mechanic threw away the box, so we asked you for measurements on the tank you received and the tank you have now. As Fred explained to you today for the second time, the tank you ordered should theoretically fit your '82 Vanagon. (And another list member with the same Vanagon reported here that he ordered one from us and it was a perfect fit.) If it doesn't fit, there are several possibilities... > > 1) You ordered one tank and got another, which would be our mistake (Since your mechanic threw away the box with the part number on it, the only way to check this would be to measure what you got.) > > 2)The manufacturer put the wrong tank in the right box > > 3) The tank is defective > > 4) The tank in your Vanagon is not original and therefore does not match factory spec for your year (which does happen) > > 5) Installer error (which a couple of list members have suggested is a possibility) > > We are going out of our way to help you resolve this, but there is no way we can do it without your cooperation. Randomly ordering the same tank from again from a different retailer because "it seems like a much higher quality tank" based on a 3 inch picture on a website may or may not solve your problem depending on what it is. You may end up with two tanks that do not fit (or for that matter, two tanks that do fit, one of which was installed incorrectly). We are trying to help you. If it's our bad we'll stand behind it. If not, you'll know what went wrong. In either case the problem is solved. Why not just pull the tank (which you will have to do anyway) and measure it and let us actually help you figure out what is wrong, rather than throwing darts and randomly guessing? > > - Ron Salmon > The Bus Depot, Inc. > www.busdepot.com > > >
