The Vanagon is not at the same level of cool as the Bus and that's a good thing in my opinion. Most of the people who think the Bus is cool know next to nothing about them.

Vanagons, especially the Westies and Syncros, are growing into their own iconic status. The string of articles, blogs, documentaries, etc covering the adventures (even daily driving) of Vanagon ownership continue to chug along. They mostly all cover the actual intended use of Vanagons, not cameo appearances at proms, weddings, et al.
