Have not replaced the hoses. Have considered that, understand that I need to have new ones fabricated, from special material that is less porous than typical. Have not gotten up to investigating that. mcneely

I don't know about the rear seat passengers, I don't think anyone has ever sat there when the AC was on. But, over a few weeks period, the charge leaks away, and no matter how many times someone claims to have found "THE" leak, the problem comes back in about the same period of time. > > mcneely > > ---- jondvo@GMAIL.COM wrote: > > I have a 90 weekender, and even the AC working perfectly was pretty worthless driving in muggy T storms let alone clear weather. Would be nice to have decent AC but the stock system is worthless - I pulled it and cleaned up the back w new cabinets. For anyone who knows Vanagon Westies, the AC does not add value. The non-Westies are a bit better, as vents are overhead. > > Jon > > > > Sent from my iPhone > > > > > On Jun 18, 2015, at 2:33 PM, Michael Magnani <mfmagnani@SBCGLOBAL.NET> wrote: > > > > > > I bought my 90 Westy brand new and even when the AC worked, all it ever did was blow moderately cool air on the back of my neck. But most of the time it didn't work and I spent way too many hours trying to coax it back to life. I removed every shred of that system three years ago and have enjoyed the extra storage space. But what I enjoy most of all is the much-improved access for engine maintenance. And I agree with the previous post: I modified my bus to make it more valuable to Me, not the next guy. > > > Mike M > > > > > > Sent from my iPad > > > > > >> On Jun 18, 2015, at 09:28, Don Hanson <dhanson928@GMAIL.COM> wrote: > > >> > > >> I was very pleased to find a van without AC...When I got my used > > >> Westie interior the fellow asked if I wanted it and I > > >> declined..".Simple....power-nothing" I find that to be very desirable. > > >> Every vehicle I have owned that came with AC, the systems just seem > > >> to suck up money and are often broken...though my Ford AC did work > > >> for about 10yrs with no problemo.
