Currently on the road, but I removed the AC completely in a '90 weekender. Revised the rear cabinet which was a significant amount of work, but not difficult. I'll post a photo shortly. The AC did not function and I was originally going to fix it, but it isn't worth it. Even working well, the system is not integrated into the dash, and there are no vents up front for the driver/ passenger. AC is really nice on hot muggy days when there is a storm, and one needs defrost - the Vanagon system cannot address this. Jon

Agree with everyone else, leave it in!

The most common failure point is the pressure side line from the compressor to the front of the van. Change that, and you will likely hold a charge... and always replace the receiver/dryer whenever your system has been dead for a while.

I've got a non-working AC in my Westy and wondered about pulling it out but am concerned about the interior appearance afterward. For those of you who've seen/done one after the pull, did it look presentable or was there a lot of cosmetic rework required?

Please/thanks!
