This would be great place to start. http://www.tiresafety.com/images/Tire%20Replacement%20Manual.pdf

You really should get the load inflation table for that tire from the manufacture and use the posted axle weight ratings on the door jamb to get minimum inflation needed to carry the maximum load.

As that tire is approaching 28 inches it negatively effects gearing and braking. From experience it will reduce engine and transmission life if you drive at higher speeds. Broken rings, burned valves seem to come with larger tires without other compensation being done. Even the 215/65-16 (27') seems to like breaking trans parts.

The tire thread got me to thinking about tire inflation. The sticker on the left doorjamb says 39 psi front and 48 rear. I'm assuming that stays the same even though I have ditched the stock 14" steel wheels and am running 15" SA steel wheels with Michelin LTX M/S in 215/75/15 (load range C max inflation 55 psi).

Is that correct or should I be inflating these tires to something different.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Mark
