Subject:      Initial autopsy results loose alternator '84 Vanagon 1.9 L engine

Received the suggested bracket from Go Westy. Removed alternator and found both bolts going into case had sheared off with part of case worn away form left bolt hole. The same thing happened about four years ago. Have called my Vanagon mechanic (Wolfsburg Tech in Twiggs County, GA) to bring his trailer and take van to his shop. Fortunately, have two other vehicles to use.
