It's a rare fan indeed that will run off a dimmer.

If you want the lights to be on a dimmer, then you need to feed the lamp circuit in the fan from the wall dimmer.

But the fan motor will need an always-on, non-dimmered source of power for its pull-chain switch and motor.

So that's four wires to the fan:

Dimmer hot to lamp circuit. Always hot to pullchain motor circuit. Common neutral. A ground wire.

Any licensed electrician should have no trouble visualizing this and rigging it. It just comes down to how many holes you want in your walls to route the wires . . . .
