The Autostop valve works fine until it breaks.  Only reason to change
it if it's working is that most pump jockeys have never seen one.  In
lieu of the Autostop, if you replace it with a manual valve always
remind the attendant that the tank only holds two and a half gallons
max.  They have to pay attention from the second thy pull the handle,
not a minute later.  Otherwise you may have to bleed off an
inconvenient amount of gas from the overfilled tank.

Haha, it's a tuned folded pipe so it has resonant frequencies that
can pick energy out of ambient noise and show it to you.  Most vivid
experience I've had of that was an old fire truck in a children's
museum full of happy clatter.  The sections of hard four-inch suction
hose hung on the outsides just sat there humming a nice clear note
you could hear from a foot or two away..
