That battery replaces the group 48. Yes it is a bit taller than the 41. As for lasting longer the AGMs are a crap shoot. The experience for many does not match the design theory and when they go bad they real bad with little warning.

I got an AutoCraft H-6 AGM battery to fit in my 90 GL. bought it from Advanced Auto Parts and got one of their $20 SPEED PERKS coupons to use for my next purchase. 950 CA and 750 CCA at zero. The top did rise a bit above the factory hinge, but not so much that the seat was going to touch the terminals. The factory clamp bar still fit down in the cavity and after drilling out the micro rivets that held the hinge in place, my plan is to make a semi sanitary cover for it out of wood, but that project is a long way down the line. The battery wasn't cheap(none of the AGMs are), Thinking it was around $190, but they are supposed to last twice as long as the lead acid variety. Not sure how it would work with a Westy, as I've never owned one......YMMV

Patti, I meant to mention, the "correct" starter battery fits perfectly with the original bracket that fits inside the battery compartment to hold the battery in place. If you still have that, that's great. Some POs tossed it when they bought a battery that did not fit. Big advantage to getting exactly the right battery is the cover on the positive post. I still cover the battery with a sheet of rubber between it and the metal compartment cover, but that positive post cover is really essential given that you are screwing a metal cover on top of the battery.
Regardless, don't expect an easy fitting of the battery into the compartment. Might tight. mcneely
