Euro-type fuses have an extremely narrow contact area exactly at the edge of the little hole in the contact. The contact can look shiny and wonderful everywhere else and it won't matter. The quick-and-dirty way to clean up the connection is to spin the fuse with your fingers. A burnishing tool made to look like a fuse could be very handy.
