Dodged a bullet on that one! That line usually pops off the rubber hose that goes through the firewall, which happened to me once.

It's a very tough nylon hose, unusual to see it fail unless it got pinched somewhere.

Hi all, Just got back from our 4000 + mile round trip to Labrador and Newfoundland.,all almost went well. Got to a small town on the north east coast on the Atlantic Ocean for a long hike when the Westy started with a huge fuel leak. "WOW" another disaster. No fire etc but stuck in the back country. Short story is that the hard plastic fuel line on the passenger side above the rear wheel wore out. Exactly where it hangs on that small white plastic bracket. I have all the fuel lines ordered but never get them before leaving on the trip. Quick repair with the help of a local Newfoundlander who just happened to be driving by on a early Sunday morning before church. He also is the foreman for the provincial highway department. Talk about a coincidence and good luck. He has had many VW bugs in his life. Will retire this year. Made a friend for life.

Regards,

Dennis 1988 Westy GL
