For me, that lip around the starter battery box top edge makes battery R&R a minor pain. I'm sure others have experienced this. And, at a running glance, that lip makes the box seem smaller. This lip can be removed for sake of convenience. A group 41 should fit regardless of that.

On one starter battery I had, I installed a semi-permanent "handle" at each end. I wrapped a length of #14 wire several times (5?) around the plastic at battery then twisted ends closed. This certainly helped.
