Patti, I meant to mention, the "correct" starter battery fits perfectly with the original bracket that fits inside the battery compartment to hold the battery in place. If you still have that, that's great. Some POs tossed it when they bought a battery that did not fit. Big advantage to getting exactly the right battery is the cover on the positive post. I still cover the battery with a sheet of rubber between it and the metal compartment cover, but that positive post cover is really essential given that you are screwing a metal cover on top of the battery.

Regardless, don't expect an easy fitting of the battery into the compartment. Might tight. mcneely
