What, you don't have one of these in your tool box? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kd-Tools-KDS205-14-Battery-Carrying-Strap/41285200 I had to get one for my MGBs many years ago for its even less accessible batteries.

The "correct" battery, that has the foot to fit the factory bracket, has a handle on it from the factory to facilitate holding it and lowering it into the compartment. Without a handle, your hands have to hold the battery by the sides or ends to lower it into place, and they suffer from being scraped. The backs of one's hands have thin skin and bleed profusely. mcneely
