FWIW, my medium strength JB kit + functioning arm springs will actually lift the top part way up. I have a large-ish solar panel on poptop. The roof is stable, no issues. I've used it a fair amount.

This is slightly OT, but thinking now, if people are seeing stability or cracking issues, maybe their OEM pop top springs (in arms) aren't working? I did some experimenting with all those parts. In general, I found that the OEM arm springs provide a fair amount of assist and are needed regardless of JB kit even with the HD struts.

Locating the hole at pop top might be a little tricky. I fudged up one, and had to enlarge it slightly, but found that a small piece of mild steel took up the slack at the hole.
