I'd be curious as to why that part popped out. The expansion tank plastic does start to get old and fail over time. Same could be said for the fluid level sensor? (threads fail?) After work is done, keep checking coolant levels. And, with engine off, engine at operating temp, watch coolant flow from inlet pipe into the coolant expansion tank. After a cooling system has been opened up, it's normal to see little air bubbles come in via that pipe. Flow of those bubbles should stop after some miles. How many I can't say. Sorry. Regardless, if you still see air bubbles after something like 1000 miles, I'd get the cooling system pressure tested. The new coolant sensor should be installed with an O ring.
