That is a very nice set up and if you have a messed up ,hacked up harness would be the way to go. Especially with the trailer add on package. I have added trailer wiring to my VW's and go back to the break out box on the firewall and tap into the harness inside the box and run it out to the hitch. Go to any trailer store and buy a Prewired plug with about 6' of wire and follow the color code and up with a nice tidy un hacked set up. I cover mine in black Heat shrink and run it along side the factory wiring and it ends up looking factory. Wiring time and hookup up is usually about 3 hours for a Sano job. If yours has already had a hacked install done ,then remove the scotch locks and Re solder and heat shrink or use good quality Butt Connectors ,I like the heat shrink ones that you hit with an torch after and it makes them water and oil tight. They are about .40 each ,but worth every cent.
