Sun exposure will degrade it. It's not intended to seal in exposed areas, caulk is for that. It's been fine and flexible under bolt heads and sealing the antenna for about four years now. Use it where the sun don't shine!

There are more expensive moldable sealants for exposed use. VW used something similar but white under the top bolts and hinge bolts, and under the canvas to seal the roof ridge edges. You can see it if you look from the outside of the van. It's stickier and still flexible after 30 years, I'd like to know what that was!

The description says, "Not for use outdoors." Any comment on that? Water might erode it over time? UV sensitive? Just wondering about your experience in the applications you suggest. mcneely
