I had a similar situation in a 90 West some years ago. I went into a restaurant to order something to go, came to, started the car and POW. I couldn't believe it when I saw the sensor blown out and coolant all over the place.

Later I put two and two and two and two and two together to figure out that the popped hose here, rough running there, disappearing coolant and the like were all related to a head failure and not an aging tank and hoses, though.
