Actually I've never had collision insurance on a vehicle either, and have never missed it. Add that to my savings. :)

Nowadays my iPhone knows the location and number of every towing service on the planet. I don't need to pay that dispatcher's salary (though I'm glad others keep them employed).

Like Alistair, I'm often on a forest service road where cell service and AAA are unavailable. A bicycle is better insurance, or in winter I take my snowshoes.

Not suggesting this is for everyone. I just have a problem with the notion that Triple A is essential.
