That's pretty neat Angus.

I got frustrated recently with the tight fit of my pioneer head unit in the dash. I dread pulling the head unit to do any work back there.

I'm thinking of ditching it and buying one without the disc drive. They appear much shallower and I'm not using the cd drive very often anymore.

I'm looking for a mech-less unit with 3 pairs of pre outs, and a remote control. USB input of course and Bluetooth would be nice.

I had a home made iPad holder that replaced the ashtray and held the iPad down over the dash. But recently I found a RAM mount and I popped in a 1/4-20 riv nut beside the lighter and I can screw in the ram mount base to that. I can hold either the mini or the air 2 on that. The mini is less intrusive and works very well as an off road nav system ( Bluetooth connection to garmin glo receiver) and I lead USB cable out through ashtray to the pad.

I also made a base for the ram mount that I have screwed to the underside of the rear overhead cupboard. That way I can, should I wish, lie in bed and have the iPad I'm position to watch a movie.
