Oh don't get me wrong Angus, I'd do what you did ( and give up my four channel amp) if it weren't for the lack of radio. You know one of my pleasures is being camped high on the South Island, warm summer evening drink in hand, and listening to various NPR stations (almost line of sight) from the U.S.

If that nails my demographic then so be it :-)

The beauty of using a dock is in just plunking my phone into it. Charging and sound are available with no extra wires to fiddle with. Navigation is plenty visible and turn-by-turn directions come through the sound system if desired, a boon for my lousy hearing. > > Currently the entire amp is behind the dash, including the potentiometer. The mini is less intrusive and works very well as an off road nav system ( Bluetooth connection to garmin glo receiver) and I lead USB cable out through ashtray to the pad. >> >> I also made a base for the ram mount that I have screwed to the underside of the rear overhead cupboard.
