dear border crosser -
Fire arms are* not *a no no -
indeed - you simply have to declare said fire arms and they must be locked
away separate from ammunition  which must also be locked up
moreover - there must be a purpose to your need for firearm -
Long rifle for hunting -
legal short barrel for legit shooting contests -

if you say you are bringing your fire arm for protection -
then you may have opened a can of whoop rump

also if you have an impaired operation of a moro vehicle charge in your
history - you will be viewed as a 1st degree criminal and asked to forgo
your need to enter Canada as we do not allow criminals to enter Canada
