It's just all that extra power from your new engine. Nothing to be done except drive slowly like you used to. ;-)

But, if you are carrying extra stuff inside the spare tire wheel, that could be reducing the flow through the clamshell.

In the past I have seen reference to a factory recall/after delivery install of a heat diverter/baffle for Vanagon with automatic tranny. The area around the shifter on mine gets hotter than hell when driving. So How do I check (what do I look for) to see if this kit has been installed in my rig? And if it has not does anyone know if they dealers can still get such kits?
