Hi all. After replacing the master cylinder R&R on my '81 Westy. I took apart the old one and took some pics starting here: https://picasaweb.google.com/musomuso/NewFTEGermanMCOldMC#6174035582293290786 The brown stuff looks like brake fluid mixed with OEM brake paste or grease. Does the seal shown look like it was starting to fail? Is it a hydraulic seal or does it just keep fluid out of the booster? I replaced the MC because the brake pedal had (I hope), an inconsistent pedal height and felt like it was sinking *very very* slowly under normal foot pressure. This part was about 6-7 years old with relatively low miles. I replaced it with another FTE. Thanks Neil.
