Taking a moment away from the Hyena's drippy water pump, I'm still on the hunt for its {shh! don't tell it} replacement.

I have recently found two 1.6TD (JX) Westfalia high-tops (one Atlantic, one California ... neither in Arctic/Pastel white :-) ) and am dancing with both owners (After a dozen outings, I'm starting to get fairly comfortable with this inspecting a VW from afar).

Both vehicles are in Europe (different countries) - and remarkably, I have friends within a 2-hour commute of either vehicle who are sufficiently competent to be my boots and photographer on the ground.

I have RORO quotes to ship either vehicle from its present location to the port of Halifax, but am thinking, it would be much safer if my present were to come in a box rather than just with a bow around it {I recall when neighbours shipped their 1975 Westy back from Germany using RORO and it arrive missing many bits}. The Vanagon is obviously too tall for a standard container, but fortunately there are 20' high-cubes. The internal height of a high cube container is 2700mm (~106"). I'm guessing the height of a Westfalia hightop is 100 - 102" (provided it is wearing 14" shoes).

Does anyone out there have a Westfalia hightop (Joker, California or Atlantic), they would be willing to measure to confirm the height?

I may have to get them to stuff a bag of peanuts or sheet of rigid foam between the top of the vehicle and the container ... it could be that close.
